This sculpture represents the impact of plants on soil fertility.

The wooden drop shape signifies plants’ ability to capture and retain moisture. The split wooden spindles represent the exchange of nutrients between plants and soil. Lastly, the three clay discs symbolise the enhancement of soil fertility over time as a result of this symbiotic process.

The upward orientation of the drop signifies the shared growth that lies ahead. And, more broadly, the symbiotic connection between living beings and their environment.

This sculpture is made out of a single log of oak with split wood spindles hammered into the base. We felled the tree because it was unfortunately attacked by a fungi a few years ago and died.
