Habemus Papam cabinet

This cabinet is made of chestnut wood and entierly built using hand-tools and joinery work. It was baptised "Habemus Papam" because it took me a very long time to complete.

Though using hand-tools and joints made the process more laborious, it also made it lot more satisfying. I appreciated how more harmonious the process and the final outcome became when you work with the inherent characteristics of the wood.

I tried to do things as perfectly as possible while accepting that they will never be perfect. I suppose that it is the unexpected and unwanted imperfections that make a given object meaningful. They are little windows into the manual work that was put into them. You can see glimpses of the human hand: experiences that are inscribed in matter that endure in time.
