We are all here in the present and we share it with many different living beings. And yet, we all have different evolutionary pasts. Some are thousands of millions of years older than us. Our place in the world was made available only relatively recently.

Also, I wonder how we would perceive ourselves if the Neanderthals or the Denosovians were here in the present too. Would we feel so unique?

This sculpture is a representation of this. The horizontal elements signifies the present. The rounder one underneath represents the evolutionary past. And we are that little solitary seedling on the far right.
